Dear Friends

I hope that the last year has been without obstacles for you, but if not, that you were able to transform them. I also hope that the coming New Year will be one in which your own and others’ good wishes will meet the proper conditions to manifest.

The first year at Karma Changchub Ling (KCCL), Fall River, has been very active and overall pretty successful. We were able to establish ourselves with the help and support of many of our friends. We became a charity, established our daily and monthly schedule, had a great number of wonderful feasts and practice intensives, and several successful evening classes. We also had the honour to spend much time with Ani Migme while caring about her during her final months and passing. We hosted wonderful visits by great teachers like Dzogchen Pönlop Rinpoche, Master Hai Tao and Ani Pema. In brief, we have become firmly established and recognized in the Halifax area community and this will allow us now to progress to a different phase: inviting teachers, focusing on community building, and slowly expanding.

In that vein, it now appears that the coming new year will become very special for us and many others, since His Holiness the XVIIth Karmapa is expected to visit Canada (including Halifax and Fall River) around May or June 2017. We have been asked to play a part on the organization committee for His visit.

In addition, after meeting with His Eminence Thrangu Rinpoche in October in Vancouver, we believe that there is also a real chance that Thrangu Rinpoche himself might be willing to come for a teaching visit to Fall River and Halifax if we officially invite him, which we plan to do soon.

In general, all of our teachers have been very supportive and encouraging in the establishment of KCCL. Blessings in action!
Community building is in itself always at the heart of any kind of community. And when organizing visits of the magnitude mentioned above, a benefit is that it will help the local communities involved to stay focused and to become energized in the short and long run.

Of course, whether or not these good possibilities will manifest depends on whether or not we are able to bring the right causes and conditions together. Many factors besides financial support will have to come together to make all of this possible, nevertheless, financial support will play a crucial role.

I am writing to you today to ask your financial support for KCCL, a monastic center in Fall River, Nova Scotia. We rely on the generosity of donors like you to be able to continue to uphold and propagate the practices and traditions as established so beautifully by Trungpa Rinpoche and the Kagyü-Nyingma lineages in North America. I want you to know that your donation, whether big or small, is greatly appreciated since it will allow us to focus our energies on inviting teachers and community building.

Your donation will not only make it easier for us to pay the bills for our centre in Fall River but will also lay the ground for our plans of purchasing the property in Fall River in the next one or two years.

Best wishes

Lodrö Sangpo, Fall River, December 2016
