3pm Property Search Community Meeting

You are warmly invited to join us on Sunday, December 8, at 3 pm, to look together at KCCL’s future directions and property search. We would like to take stock with the wider KCCL community as we re-evaluate our property search, in light of our goals and approaching deadlines. 
 
Overall, our activities of this year have been very enriching and encouraging. They have helped us grow with the sangha. Our classes, practice intensives, and other activities, including our first big event – Khandro Rinpoche’s teaching visit – have helped to bring us together and give us a sense of direction. 
 
On the other hand, in spite of our best efforts to find the right place for KCCL to establish itself in the long term, we haven’t yet secured a location. Our goal is to find a place closer to Halifax so that more people can access our facilities and activities. 
 
Our current rental agreement in Fall River ends in April 2020. So we need to look at this again, with fresh eyes, and with some urgency. In our community meeting, we will first provide an update of our property search in the last year, including Khandro Rinpoche’s input. After that we’ll address issues such as: 

• Should we still be focussing on a best-case solution that meets all our needs – a location on the peninsula, accommodating between 8 and 15 people, and remaining under a certain dollar threshold?
• Are there unused or more creative ways of searching for a property?
• How can we better fundraise and respond more effectively as buyers in a competitive market?
• Is it time to look at alternatives, such as temporary rentals, smaller places, or places farther from the peninsula?
• Should we make an offer on our current location?

We would appreciate your input and possible support.
