What a Nice Déjà Vu !
— KCCL finds home on 871 Young Avenue —
2020 Annual Appeal & $100,000 (CAD) Matching Fund Offer for Purchase and Renovation
We are so happy to be able to share with you that we have succeeded in reaching an Agreement of Purchase with the seller for our future permanent home at 871 Young Avenue in Halifax. As you may know, this is the same property we had hoped to purchase last March, which generated much excitement within the wider and local Buddhist Sanghas.
The owner now appears ready, willing, and able to sell the house and, two weeks ago, offered it to us under the same terms as last March. We viewed the house again, and since we found it in the same condition as before, we rechecked and reconfirmed our previous agreements with the bank, insurance company, and local zoning authorities. We then contacted KCCL’s spiritual advisors Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche and Dzogchen Pönlop Rinpoche, who quickly replied sending their blessing and full-hearted support.
Closing date is set for February 25, which gives us an overlap of two months with our present rental agreement in Fall River. The months of March and April will give us a good amount of time to do some needed renovations, and repairs to fulfill city requirements. Our focus will be on establishing a good-sized main shrine room and a Mahasangha practice space which can accommodate the activities of other local Buddhist sanghas. We also need to do some work on the residential areas (repainting, etc.)
Our goal is to become a genuine sea
