Vajrayogini Druppa: Meaning, Sign and Symbol Vajrayogini

In-person at KCCL and also online via OCEAN feast shrine room

From August 31 to September 4

Description: This druppa will consist of five full practice days and is a great opportunity to further familiarize or deepen yourself with the entire practice, including the abhisheka and feast sections, which will be recited every day. The last day will feature a grand feast.

The theme of this year’s druppa is Meaning, Sign and Symbol Vajrayogini, a classification based on Thongwa Tönden, Karmapa VI (1416–1453), the composer of our Vajrayogini sadhana, and also as discussed by Pawo Tsug-lak Trengwa (1504–1566) in his famous Lhatri commentary and as explained by Thrangu Rinpoche and Khenpo Karthar. Each day we will have a brief presentation of these topics at around 11.30 AM.

Daily schedule: All times in Atlantic/Halifax time. Here is a “9am (AT) sample conversion” for the different time zones:

  • 5:00 AM Pacific;
  • 6:00 AM Mountain;
  • 7:00 AM Central;
  • 8:00 AM Eastern;
  • 9:00 AM Atlantic (AT);
  • 1:00 PM London;
  • 2:00 PM CEST

Morning session:
9:00am–12:00pm: Self-visualization and vase visualization
Afternoon session:
2:00pm–5:30pm: Front-visualization and abhisheka section
Evening session:
7:00pm–8:00pm: Brief self-visualization and conclusion

The final grand feast day—Monday September 4, which is a Holiday in Canada and the USA—is a feast day and will start at 10 AM and will end at around 6 PM. There will be an expected lunch break between 12:00pm and 2:00pm (AT) where people can have a light lunch and do feast food prep. Everyone joining in person is encouraged to bring a food offering.

Who can attend: Open to sadhakas who have received the Vajrayogini abhisheka, and have their own copy of the Sadhana of the Glorious Coemergent Mother, by the Sixth Karmapa, Thongwa Tönden. People (“in person” or “online”) who cannot join for the entire druppa, can also join in just for individual sessions.
